Our hearts are troubled and saddened over all the loss of life, injury and destruction caused by the invasion of Russia into Ukraine. Such destruction can never bring any sustainable peace. We are calling for steadfast ethical and moral decisions in opposition to their intrusion.
The American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC), the World Christian Leadership Conference (WCLC), and other organizations are joining together in heart petitioning Russia to:
STOP THE KILLINGS OF FAMILIES IN UKRAINE NOW
BRING A QUICK AND SUSTAINABLE RESOLUTION
END THE VIOLENCE
WITHDRAW ALL MILITARY TROOPS
RENEWED EFFORT TO SEARCH FOR A DIPLOMATIC SOLUTION.
We are living in a time like no other where the possibilities for peace are really at hand. We have caught glimpses of this peace, in the signing of peace agreements or reconciling through detentes and by extending an olive branch. We have much to learn about the process that makes for peace. It is incumbent that the faith community must unite and take the lead, not just in word but in action as well.
